Ra’Keeyah had her new theme song “Hustle Hard” bumping as she got ready. She was in love with Ace Hood because he looked a lot like Brick, without the locks. “Same ol’ shit, just a different day out here tryna get it, each and every way,” Ra’Keeyah sang loud. “Mama need a house, baby need some shoes—”

“Didn’t you hear me callin’ you?” her mother opened her bedroom door and yelled over the music.

“Huh?” Ra’Keeyah asked walking over to the boom box, turning the volume down. “I didn’t hear you.”

“If you wouldna’ had that bullshit turned up so loud you woulda’ heard me!” her mother fussed.

“BS?” Ra’Keeyah asked. “Ace Hood don’t make no BS,” Ra’Keeyah laughed.
